Lender Information

Lenders  or mortgage lenders, provide loans (a type of debt) which allows the redistribution of financial assets over time.

Initially, the borrower borrows an amount of money (the principal) from the lender, and is obligated to pay it at a later time. In most cases, the money is paid back in scheduled installments including a "rate of interest" until it is completely paid back.

That rate of provides an incentive for the lender to engage in taking the risk that it will not be paid back. The terms, obligations and restrictions are detailed and enforced by a legal contract.

Acting as a provider of these loans is one of the principal tasks of banks and other financial institutions. Other forms of loans can be issued in other instruments like Bonds.

There are different types of loans, including secured loans (borrower pledges some asset as collateral), a subsidized loan (will not gain interest before you begin to pay it), a unsubsidized loan (gains interest the day of disbursement.) and of course a mortgage loan (used by many individuals to purchase housing)
